What do I say when I call? When you call and leave a message for your legislator, you might want to say something like: “Please support Family Friendly Jury Duty Legislation, (your state’s senate or house bill number), because: (use any one of the reasons below:)” |

· A jury service commitment is very unpredictable, which makes it extremely difficult to obtain suitable all-day childcare/care for dependent family member. |
|
· Substitute care arrangements for children or family members (for jury duty) places a financial hardship on families with only one source of income. |
|
· Currently, 21 states and U.S. Territories have ‘family friendly jury duty’ laws, and
Federal courts currently have similar policies in 76 percent of their
jurisdictions. |
|
· A breastfeeding mother should not be separated from her baby! |
|
· A frantic mother would not make a good juror! |
|
· This is good legislation for families,
it won't disrupt our court system, |
